pin helps Rangers stay #1

Alex Baxter registered the only pin of the match and the Rangers
won nine other decisions and a forfeit leading the four-time state
and defending sectional champ to a 40-6 victory over Brockport and
retain their number one ranking in New York state.
Baxter
pinned his man in 1:46 at 215 lb. Other winners for the Rangers
included Dan Tomasso who picked up an escape, a takedown and back
points all in the third period of his 5-0 win at 135 lb. Adam Snook
won at 140 lb. 5-1, Mike Terenzi 6-1 at 145 lb., Sebastian Baliva
6-0 at 171 lb. and Bryan Bourne 9-1 at 119 lb.
In
much closer bouts, the Rangers Mike Collura registered a reverse
in the third period and hung on for a 5-3 victory at 152 lb. and
Jared Plucknette scored a takedown with just nine seconds left in
a 7-6 come-from-behind win at 189 lb.
For
Brockport, Vitaly Basisty led his match at 160 lb. 2-0 before needing
an escape with nine seconds left for a 3-2 win and Shane Stoyle
won his 103 lb. match 10-6 for their only team points.
The
Rangers also picked up wins from Derek Gray at 112 lb. 5-2, Jason
Woodward with a takedown in the final twenty seconds at 125 lb.
for a 3-1 win and Brett Woodward won at 130 lb. by forfeit.
