Webster, N.Y. -
For the 21st consecutive year, Spencerport reigned as the Monroe County League Tournament champion as the Rangers amassed 292 points on Saturday night at Webster Schroeder High School.
Rush-Henrietta was a distant second with 156 points. The Royal Comets were without the services of their 103-pounder as well.
Brighton edged out Penfield by half a point for the third place trophy, 143.5 points for the Barons to 143.0 points for the Patriots.
The Rangers had eight finalists and crowned five champions. Pittsford had three champions as the Panthers placed sixth. Brockport finished in fifth place with 137.5 points and had two champions, as did Penfield. Rush-Henrietta, Hilton, and Greece Olympia each crowned one champion.
The Most Outstanding Heavyweight Wrestler (145-285) went to Ranger Joe Inzana, who dominated the 160 division.

For the 21st consecutive year, the Spencerport wrestling team displays the Monroe County League Tournament trophy that the Rangers earned on Saturday night at Webster Schroeder by placing 14 grapplers, including 5 champions, while amassing 292 points. |
"At the Clayton Barnard Tournament I came out a little flat and didn't wrestle my best," Inzana said. "I practiced last week and made sure I was going to come in here and wrestle clean and wrestle up to my standards."
The Rangers placed wrestlers in 14 of the 15 weight classes.
"The attitude in the room is a lot different," Inzana said. "We've got a group of kids that everyone wants to work hard, everyone has the heart. The attitude is that everyone wants to go out and win. Nobody is looking for excuses."
The other Spencerport champions included: Jon Haas (96), Mike Piedimonte (125), Steve Maier (145), and Roy Daniels (152).
The last team, other than Spencerport, to win the county wrestling tournament was Brighton back in 1990. And guess who the Barons beat out for the title - you got it - Spencerport.
The Most Outstanding Lightweight Wrestler (96-140) went to Royal Comet Ryan Reed, who pinned his way through the tournament to capture the 135 weight class.
"I've pinned my way through dual meet tournaments but not in individual tournaments," Reed said. "That's what I wanted to do here was to pin everybody, get ready for states.
"I kind of expected to (pin) as I have high expectations for myself, pin to win, that's how I wrestled."
