Bill Jacoutot, one of the most successful high school wrestling coaches in the state and Section V history at Spencerport, announced his retirement to team members this afternoon.

It is effective immediately.
"I don't think there has been a day in the past 18 months that someone hasn't asked (about him retiring), even when I am in (his native) New Jersey," Jacoutot said. "It was about time to put it to rest."
During Jacoutot's 28 seasons, five of his teams were ranked nationally, seven were designated state champions and 21 won Section V championships.
In addition, Spencerport has had 12 individual state champions in the 60-year history of its team. Jacoutot, 57, coached 11 of those wrestlers.
In 2008, Jacoutot was named the National High School Wrestling Coach of the Year by the National High School Coaches Association.
"They say life is about trying to find a gift," said Jacoutot, who retired as Spencerport's middle school dean of students in June. "Then you find it and move to the second stage, giving it away."
Spencerport hopes to have the new coach in place by the middle of October.
